Lithuania will provide €10 million to finance Ukraine's long-range capabilities, Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov said on Telegram.
The funds will be used, among other things, to produce Palyanytsya drones. Umerov announced the agreement at the Lithuanian-Ukrainian Defence Industry Forum, which opened in Kyiv with the participation of Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda.
"Lithuania has already helped Ukraine with 2% of its GDP and is committed to continuing this support at the level of 0.25% of the country's GDP annually. I thanked the Lithuanian people for their support and called on businesses to actively invest in the Ukrainian defence industry," Umerov said.
He called the forum a new stage of cooperation.
What is Palyanytsya?
The Palyanytsya is a Ukrainian drone missile that was first reported to have been used on 24 August. It is a long-range weapon made in Ukraine.
At a recent Ramstein meeting, Lithuania announced that it would support the production of these drones with €10 million.
