The Supreme Court upheld a 4.5-year prison sentence for a former official of the Ministry of Defence. This was reported by the Anti-Corruption Action Centre.

The Criminal Court of Cassation of the Supreme Court upheld the sentence of the former deputy head of the Ministry of Defence Dmytro Komasa, who was found guilty of offering UAH 24 million in bribes.

The money was offered for a positive audit of the Fortress, a special-purpose facility of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

A positive audit would have allowed the company that built the facility to receive full payment for the contract of over UAH 400 million and qualify for future contracts with the Ministry of Defence.

Thus, Komakh was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison. The Supreme Court's ruling is final and cannot be appealed.

Earlier, the HACC Appeal upheld the whistleblower's complaint in this case and paid him a reward of UAH 1.6 million.
