The Verkhovna Rada has held a meeting on the ban on mobilising Ukrainians aged 18 to 25. Yesterday, the relevant committee unanimously supported the adoption of the draft law in the second reading, so it should be considered this week, MP Oleksiy Honcharenko said.
According to him, Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk confirmed that a meeting on the issue had taken place, but ‘he could not give all the details’. Allegedly, there should be an order to suspend the mobilisation of Ukrainians aged 18 to 25 while the relevant draft law is being considered.
‘And those who have already been mobilised should not be sent to assault operations,’ he added.
Stefanchuk noted that it is necessary to understand how those who have already been mobilised will be replaced in the army.
Honcharenko's colleague in the faction, Iryna Herashchenko, said that the meeting was attended by representatives of the General Staff and the Ministry of Defence.
‘As a result, it was decided that the Ministry of Defence should immediately issue an order on the impossibility of mobilising people aged 18-25 who have the status of limited fitness. Also, persons who have already been mobilised (18-25, limitedly fit) cannot be sent to the assault troops. And in the next plenary weeks, the draft law 11379-d will be submitted, which will officially legalise these norms and consolidate the norm on the demobilisation of persons of limited fitness aged 18-25,’ the MP explained.
