Ukraine's proposal for NATO membership is not an issue that should be rushed.
This statement was made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, NBC News reports.
‘These are not issues that need to be resolved in a hurry. And when we make decisions, when we think about them, we always take into account the position of other NATO member states, we discuss these possible issues at the negotiating table and make the final decision accordingly,' Erdoğan said.
The Turkish President added that the United States and other NATO members ‘do not want Ukraine to become a member state’.
‘We will follow the developments and discussions and make a final decision accordingly,’ Erdoğan said.
