Russia fires missile, 56 UAVs at Ukraine, causing damage to infrastructure of frontline regions

Twenty-two drones were shot down, 27 were lost, and two more left the airspace for Belarus.

Russia launched an X-59 guided missile from the airspace of Kursk Region, as well as 56 attack UAVs and drones of unspecified type (launch areas: Kursk, Orel, Primorsko-Akhtarsk) on 17 October. Five strike UAVs hit infrastructure facilities in the frontline areas.

Ukrainian air defence shot down 22 drones. Two drones left the airspace in the direction of Belarus, and 27 attack UAVs and drones of unspecified type were lost as a result of electronic warfare, the Air Force reported.

The air defence system was operating in Sumy, Kyiv, Poltava, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Mykolayiv, Cherkasy, Odesa and Ternopil Regions.
