Ukrainian Air Force downs 44 of 91 Russian Shaheds

One UAV left the airspace in the direction of Belarus. 44 drones were locally lost, and one more Shahed was in Ukrainian airspace.

On the night of 26 October, Russia attacked Ukraine with 3 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, 2 X-59 guided missiles, 2 missiles of unspecified type, and 91 Russian UAVs. 

This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Air Force's radio engineering troops detected and escorted 98 Russian air attack targets:

  • 3 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles (from the territory of Crimea);
  • 2 X-59 guided missiles (from the airspace in the Bryansk Region of the Russian Federation);
  • 2 missiles of unspecified type (from Belgorod Region - Russian Federation);
  • 91 Russian UAVs (launch areas: Kursk, Orel - Russian Federation)," the air force wrote. 

Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Defence Forces of Ukraine are involved in repelling the Russian air attack.

"The enemy hit civilian infrastructure facilities in Sumy and Dnipro with missiles. Unfortunately, there are civilian casualties," the Air Force added.

As a result of the air combat, as of 12.00 a.m., 44 Russian UAVs were confirmed to have been shot down in Kirovohrad, Sumy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Vinnytsya, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyy and Kursk Regions.
