President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has submitted a motion to the Verkhovna Rada to dismiss Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin. This is stated in draft resolution No. 12153.

"I am submitting a proposal to give the consent of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to dismiss Kostin from the post of Prosecutor General. The representative of the President of Ukraine in the Verkhovna Rada, H. Mykhaylyuk, is authorised to present this motion at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada," the document says.

The motion is to be considered at the plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada.

  • Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin announced his resignation on 22 October, citing the NSDC meeting on fake disabilities among government officials.
  • On the same day, the heads of the regional prosecutor's offices in Zaporizhzhya, Rivne, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Cherkasy Regions and the specialised defence prosecutor's office in the Southern region submitted their resignations.
  • On 16 October, journalist Yuriy Butusov published information that 49 prosecutors of Khmelnytskyy Region "headed by regional prosecutor Oleksiy Oliynyk received disability while 'roofing' the corruption scheme of Krupa's servant in the MMC and Pension Fund". Butusov noted that almost all prosecutors were classified as second-group disabled according to the decision of the former chief doctor of the military medical commission, Tetyana Krupa. After that, Oliynyk was dismissed from the post of the head of the Khmelnytskyy Regional Prosecutor's Office.
  • The Prosecutor General's Office initiated an internal investigation. Later, Kostin clarified that the internal investigation concerned not only Khmelnytskyy prosecutors, but all prosecutorial bodies at all levels, including the Office of the Prosecutor General.
  • On 22 October, the President chaired a meeting of the National Security and Defence Council to discuss the situation with the MMC and the abuse of disability by officials of various state bodies.
