The SBU and the National Police in Transcarpathian Region exposed the head of a district military commissariat and a deputy brigadier of the Territorial Defence Forces who offered conscripts to avoid conscription for bribes.
This was reported by the SBU press centre.
‘The Security Service and the National Police eliminated two more schemes to evade mobilisation of men of military age in Transcarpathia. As a result of comprehensive measures, the head of the district military commissariat and the deputy commander of the terrorist defence brigade were served with suspicion notices,’ the statement reads.
According to the National Police investigators, the two defendants acted separately, but in similar ‘schemes’: in exchange for bribes, they offered conscripts to avoid conscription on the basis of forged documents about their ‘poor’ health.
To do this, officials provided potential recruits with fictitious medical reports from the Military Medical Commission on the presence of serious illnesses.
Later, the evaders used the forged documents to deregister from the military register and could illegally leave Ukraine. The cost of such ‘services’ ranged from $4,000 per client.
