The elimination of Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of Russia’s Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defence Troops, in Moscow was carried out as a special operation by Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), sources have told LB.ua.

According to the sources, an explosive device planted in a scooter was detonated as Kirillov and his assistant approached the entrance of a residential building on Ryazansky Prospekt. Both men were killed in the blast.

“Kirillov was a war criminal and an absolutely legitimate target, as he gave orders to use banned chemical weapons against Ukrainian troops. Such an inglorious end awaits all those who kill Ukrainians. Retribution for war crimes is inevitable,” a source within the SBU stated.

Kirillov had previously been served a notice of suspicion by the SBU for ordering the large-scale use of prohibited chemical weapons against Ukraine’s Defence Forces, particularly in the eastern and southern regions
