The town of Kurakhove in Donetsk Region remains under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF), but the situation is challenging due to Russia’s significant advantage in manpower.
Nazar Voloshyn, spokesman for the Khortytsia military unit, confirmed that Ukrainian troops are actively defending their positions despite ongoing Russian assaults. “The enemy does not stop trying. The situation is, of course, complicated due to the enemy’s significant advantage in manpower,” Voloshyn told RBC-Ukraine.
On the southeastern outskirts and southern urban areas of Kurakhove, Russian forces have intensified their assault operations, deploying reserves of personnel and heavy equipment. Units involved in the attacks include the 90th Tank Division, 20th Motorised Infantry Division, and the 5th and 110th Motorised Infantry Brigades.
According to Voloshyn, Russia’s objective is to level the frontline in this area, enabling them to regroup, withdraw certain units for rest, and concentrate forces for future offensives.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported today that Ukrainian troops repelled 32 Russian attacks in the Kurakhove sector. The enemy attempted advances near Stari Terny, Sontsivka, Zorya, Kurakhove, and Uspenivka.
Despite the challenging conditions, Ukrainian forces continue to hold their ground against the concentrated assaults.
