On the night of 15 December, Russia attacked Ukraine with an S-300 missile and 108 Shahed strike UAVs, alongside other drones, launched from Kursk, Orel, Bryansk, and Millerovo regions, the Ukrainian Air Force reported.
The attack was countered by air defence missile units, aviation, electronic warfare, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defence Forces. By 08:30 a.m., 56 Shahed drones and other UAVs had been destroyed in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kyiv, Poltava, Cherkasy, Khmelnytskyy, Mykolayiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk Regions.
In addition, 49 drones failed to reach their targets due to Defence Forces’ countermeasures, and three returned to Russia.
Debris from the downed UAVs caused damage to infrastructure, residential buildings, private homes, and vehicles in several regions. Assistance is being provided to those affected.
