Last night and in the morning, 52 air- and sea-launched cruise missiles and two Shahed-type attack UAVs were destroyed in the area of responsibility of the Western Air Command.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.

At night and in the morning of 13 December, the Russian Federation launched a massive combined missile and air strike against critical infrastructure facilities in the area of responsibility of the Western Air Command. 

‘Air defence units and aviation of the Western Air Command destroyed 52 X-101/X-55SM, Kalibr cruise missiles and two Shahed attack UAVs in their area of responsibility,’ the Air Force said in a statement.

The Air Force press service also showed footage of the destruction of a Russian cruise missile by a mobile fire group of the Western Air Command using the Igla portable air defence system. 

‘The commander of the machine gun section of the security platoon of the Halychyna-Volyn radio engineering brigade, Junior Sergeant Volodymyr Pshenychnyak, destroyed a Russian cruise missile from the Igla portable anti-aircraft missile system,’ the statement said.

It is noted that the downed missile did not cause damage to critical infrastructure. The crash site and the remains of the missile were discovered by a search team.
