The Cabinet of Ministers has extended the ban on the import of goods from Russia into the customs territory of Ukraine until 31 December 2025.
This was reported by the Ministry of Economy.
The Ministry of Finance reminds that the list of goods banned from importation from Russia was approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1147 dated 30 December 2015 and periodically updated.
Also, on 10 December, the Government extended the Cabinet of Ministers' Resolution No. 1146 of 30 December 2015, which sets import duty rates for goods originating in the Russian Federation, for another year - until 31 December 2025.
‘Since 9 April 2022, the government has been applying a full embargo on goods with the Russian Federation (Government Resolution No. 426 of 9 April 2022). No trade with Russia and Russian goods is taking place. However, we should not forget the pressure that Russia exerted before the full-scale invasion. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain the effectiveness of those instruments that were previously used as countermeasures against Russia. Over time, Russia's economic pressure will receive a proper legal assessment,’ said Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Representative of Ukraine.
In 2015, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted two resolutions to restrict trade with Russia. This was in response to the actions of the aggressor state against Ukraine, in particular, Russia's unilateral termination of the CIS Free Trade Agreement with respect to Ukraine on 1 January 2016 and the introduction of bans on the import of a number of goods of Ukrainian origin.
The validity of these acts is extended every December.
