20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles are to be manufactured by the German concern Rheinmetall at the expense of Germany, Yevropeyska Pravda reports.
The equipment should be delivered in the first half of 2025.
Rheinmetall did not disclose the specific value of the contract, but noted that it is worth tens of millions of euros. The concern also noted that the Defence Forces have already received hundreds of Marder BMPs from them.
The 1A3 model is equipped with an additional laser rangefinder. It ensures more accurate targeting
and hitting of targets. The first 20 vehicles of this model were delivered as German aid to Ukraine last March. Subsequent deliveries took place then.
- In particular, in October, the Ukrainian military received 20 vehicles.
- The Marder is one of the most proven weapons systems of its kind in the world. It was developed for the Bundeswehr and is still in service there to some extent.
- Over the years, the Marder has been repeatedly modernised and its combat capabilities improved.
