The Biden administration has confirmed that its military aid to Ukraine is sufficient to sustain the country’s defence needs until the end of 2025, according to US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.

This statement, reported by RBC-Ukraine, comes amidst concerns that US President-elect Donald Trump may reduce support for Ukraine after his inauguration.

“We believe that the resources we have already provided them, and that we will send them before the end of this administration, provide them with the weapons and materials they need to fight until the end of 2025,” Miller said.

While the exact remaining amount of the $60 billion military aid package approved by Congress in the spring was not disclosed, Miller clarified that the Pentagon is managing the remaining funds.

  • Earlier this month, Trump suggested he would scale back aid to Ukraine if he returns to power. He also expressed scepticism about the US’s continued participation in NATO and criticised the authorisation of long-range strikes in Ukraine.
  • The Biden administration’s assurance aims to provide stability and confidence in US support for Ukraine during the ongoing conflict.
