At night, air defences shot down 46 of the 70 drones launched by Russia. This was reported by the Air Force.
"On the night of 9 January 2025, the enemy attacked with 70 Shahed-type attack UAVs and various types of decoy drones from the directions of Millerovo, Orel, Kursk, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk," the statement said.
As of 09.00, 46 Shahed and other types of attack UAVs were confirmed downed in Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Mykolayiv Regions.
Another 24 Russian decoy drones were lost in the area (without any negative consequences).
Private houses in Kharkiv, Sumy and Cherkasy Regions were damaged by the fall of downed attack UAVs.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Air Force and Defence Forces.
