On 8 January, the Russian military attacked with 64 Shahed-type attack drones and various types of imitator drones. Air defences shot down 41 drones.
According to the Air Force, the Russians launched the drones from the directions of Orel, Kursk, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia.
As of 09.00, 41 Shahed attack UAVs and other types of drones were confirmed downed in Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolayiv and Kirovohrad Regions.
22 Russian decoy drones were locally lost (without any negative consequences), three of which flew towards Russia and one towards Belarus.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Air Force and Defence Forces.
