Ukraine and the United Kingdom have signed a historic 100-year agreement. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Kyiv.

"Relations between Ukraine and the UK are closer than ever. Today we have reached a new level of relations. This is even more than a strategic relationship. We have signed an agreement on a centenary partnership. We are confident in the independence of our state, and this is something that Ukrainians will never give up," Zelenskyy said.

The President stressed that Ukrainians are confident in our European partners.

"And this is what strengthens both Ukraine and Britain. And our entire European project. This is the basis for all our peoples for generations to come," he said, noting that the centenary agreement between Ukraine and Britain is "truly comprehensive".

"It has security and defence components, economic and technological elements, interaction in the information and cultural spheres," the president added.

The text of the agreement is published on the President's website.

  • Keir Starmer has now arrived in Ukraine on his first visit as head of the British government. The plan to sign a partnership agreement for a century was reported by Politico. It is also expected that Starmer will also announce a new support package, which will also include "lethal" weapons, but the details are still unknown.
