The UN plans to raise more than $2.6 billion to help Ukrainians in 2025. This is envisaged by the UN Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan for Ukraine.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal wrote about this in Telegram, discussing the implementation of this plan with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi.
"We also talked about existing and new support programmes. In particular, he drew attention to such priority projects as providing drinking water to communities in southern Ukraine, demining, alternative sources of heat and energy, housing rehabilitation and shelter construction, and business development programmes," Shmyhal wrote.
According to him, Ukraine expects that all assistance programmes for Ukrainians will continue, and also counts on the UN's significant contribution to the humanitarian demining of our country this year, in particular by launching new programmes and projects.
"I thanked for the humanitarian programmes aimed at supporting IDPs and getting through the winter period, implemented jointly with the Government of Ukraine. The UN has provided $492 million for this heating season," the head of the Ukrainian government said.
In 2024, 8.5 million Ukrainians received various types of UN assistance.
- In November, Shmyhal said that the UN World Food Programme would allocate more than $2 billion to support Ukraine until 2027.
- A month earlier, the UN had allocated $20 million for Ukrainian refugees, including for the arrangement of temporary accommodation for the elderly and those with limited mobility.
