In 2025, the UK will supply 15 Gravehawk air defence systems to Ukraine.
This is stated on the website of the British government.
According to Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Gravehawk was developed to meet Ukraine's needs on the battlefield. The project was jointly funded by the UK and Denmark.
‘The innovative system, which is the size of a shipping container, is capable of modifying air-to-air missiles for ground-based air defence, meaning it can use Ukrainian missiles already in service with the country's armed forces,’ the British government said in a statement.
As Ukraine is constantly subjected to Russian bombardment, the Gravehawk system will strengthen its air defence, allowing it to protect cities, troops and critical infrastructure.
In September, Ukraine tested two prototypes of the new air defence system.
- Starmer also announced the delivery of 150 artillery pieces to Ukraine in the coming weeks. This is the first time in 20 years that weapons have been manufactured in Britain, he said at a press conference in Kyiv.
- Together with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the British prime minister signed a centenary partnership agreement.
