The World Bank predicts that Ukraine's economy will grow by up to 2% this year.
This is stated in the Bank's published document entitled ‘World Economic Prospects’, Ukrinform reports.
‘Moderate growth in Ukraine is projected to reach 2% in 2025, assuming that active hostilities continue throughout the year,’ the document says.
In addition, the bank forecasts Ukraine's economic recovery to reach 7% in 2026, depending on the cessation of active hostilities, investment in consumption and reconstruction.
The bank noted that the forecast remains dependent on the timing and amount of foreign aid and the duration of the Russian invasion. Geopolitical tensions continue to be a critical risk factor.
‘Any escalation could lead to a greater economic deterioration across the region,’ the document says.
At the end of December, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yuliya Svyrydenko said that Ukraine's GDP is expected to grow by 4% in 2024.
