In March, Ukraine exported goods worth more than $3.6 billion – 4.5% more than in March last year and 18% more than in February this year.

According to preliminary data, in the first quarter of 2025, exports of goods totalled almost $9.9 billion. This was announced by Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Representative of Ukraine.

Despite the decline in exports in the first two months of the year, we managed to achieve positive dynamics in March. A significant increase compared to February was driven by higher shipments of agricultural products, iron ore, and steel,” said Taras Kachka.

For example, pig iron exports increased more than 13.4 times (by $110 million) compared to February. Exports of sunflower seeds grew 11.5 times (by $15.9 million), while shipments of oilcake rose by 80.3% (by $35.8 million) and sunflower oil by 39.2% (by $141.6 million). This helped boost total physical exports to 9.98 million tonnes – 15.9% higher than in February.

Maritime exports rose by 24.7% in monetary value and by 17% in weight compared to February. Rail exports increased by 16.8% in value and 15.1% in weight.

According to preliminary data, total exports since the beginning of the year have reached almost $9.9 billion.

Although the physical weight of Ukrainian exports has decreased, their monetary value is rising. In March last year, we exported almost 11.9 million tonnes worth $3.46 billion, while in March this year, it was 9.9 million tonnes worth $3.62 billion. This indicates a growing share of higher value-added goods – showing that Ukraine’s processing industry is overcoming war-related challenges and successfully entering foreign markets,” said Taras Kachka.

In March, Ukraine’s highest-value exports included:

  • Corn – $514.4 million (2.4 million tonnes)
  • Sunflower, safflower, or cottonseed oil – $503 million (441,000 tonnes)
  • Wheat – $253.9 million (1.1 million tonnes)
  • Iron ore and concentrates – $238.4 million (2.9 million tonnes)
  • Soya beans – $150.2 million (369,200 tonnes)
  • Insulated wires – $124.6 million (6,500 tonnes)
  • Pig iron – $118.9 million (300,900 tonnes)

Ukrainian producers exported the most to: Poland ($407.7 million), Turkey ($294.3 million), Italy ($231.8 million), Germany ($196.3 million), China ($189.4 million), Spain ($185.7 million).

The European Union remains Ukraine’s main trading partner. In March, Ukraine exported $2.04 billion worth of goods to the EU – 6.1% more than in February.
