Zelenskyy calls for urgent pressure on Russia as ceasefire delay nears one month

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes new, tangible pressure must be applied to Russia.

The systematic and constant nature of Russian strikes shows that Moscow disregards the diplomatic efforts of its partners, Zelenskyy argues. He is convinced that the Kremlin leader has no intention of ensuring even a partial ceasefire.

That is why, he insists, there must be immediate and concrete pressure on Russia to put the war “on a course to completion”. This must happen as soon as possible.

“We should not wait until 11 April, when it will be a month of Russian ‘no’ in response to the American ceasefire proposal. We need to act as soon as possible. We are ready to work with all our partners in America, Europe and the world as constructively as possible to achieve the much-needed result – a decent and lasting peace,” the president stressed.

He reported that last night, the Russian army continued to attack Ukraine with drones. A total of 74 drones were launched, including 54 Shaheds.

“A targeted attack against Kharkiv – at least 14 drones. Unfortunately, there were hits. There are wounded, including three children. Everyone is receiving the necessary assistance,” he said.

There were also strikes on Odesa and Sumy Regions.

“Another targeted hit and damage to energy facilities: in Sumy Region, an FPV drone hit a substation, and in Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk Region, a power line was damaged by an artillery strike. Almost 4,000 subscribers in the two regions were left without electricity due to these strikes,” he added.

Russian airstrikes continue.
