In the temporarily occupied Bilokurakyno district of Luhansk Region, the Russian Armed Forces are conducting extensive filtration activities. According to our sources in the temporarily occupied territories, the Russians are planting weapons and Ukrainian symbols on people to accuse them of crimes and fabricate cases against them.
As soon as individuals are taken to detention centres, their homes and property are seized by the Russian military. Most often, they either move in themselves or transfer the property to their associates among the local population.
"They go from yard to yard, taking census of the previously buried": Russia\'s new occupation tactic
Due to the inaction and impunity of the occupation authorities, some internally displaced persons from the destroyed cities of Luhansk Region have begun to claim houses whose owners had left the temporarily occupied territories.
“My friends allowed a family from Siverodonetsk to move in. Time has passed, and now they are asking for this house to be recognised as ‘ownerless’ and transferred to them. They argue that they have been living here for a long time, looking after it and have some rights to it. This is what happens when people live in an atmosphere of complete lawlessness for years ‒ this gives rise to the same thoughts and feelings,” the sources said.
