A car exploded near the entrance to a residential building in Balashikha (a suburb of Moscow), killing Russian General Yaroslav Moskalik, according to Russian media and Telegram channels affiliated with Russian security forces.
Updated. The Russian Investigative Committee has officially confirmed the general's death and opened a case of "murder".
One possible version is the detonation of an improvised explosive device.
The deceased has been identified as Yaroslav Moskalik, Deputy Head of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russian Federation.
