Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said that Russians attacked the city on the night of 11 June.

He later added that in one of the districts of Kharkiv, strikes on apartment blocks and private houses were recorded.

“UAVs hit residential high-rise buildings, private houses and public transport. Several cars were also damaged by the blast wave and debris. Fires broke out in Slobidskyy and Osnovyanskyy districts of the city,” he said.

The death toll from the night attack in Kharkiv has increased. At 09:20, the head of the Regional Military Administration, Oleh Synyehubov, wrote that a 65-year-old man died in the intensive care unit after being hospitalised in extremely serious condition with deep, extensive burns.

As of 8:13 am, two people were reported killed and 60 wounded. Among them are nine children.

“According to the investigation, on 11 June, the Russian army carried out a massive drone strike on Kharkiv. Two districts of the city were targeted – Slobidskyy and Osnovyanskyy. The enemy used at least 17 UAVs. The strikes hit private and apartment buildings and businesses. Fires broke out. The attacks also damaged shops, kiosks, cars, trolleybuses, etc. Two people were killed: a 66-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman,” the Prosecutor General’s Office said.

  • On 7 June, the Russian army launched the largest attack on the city since the outbreak of the war. Over the course of an hour and a half, about 40 explosions were heard in Kharkiv. The Russians used multiple rocket launchers to strike.
  • They hit mainly the centre – Shevchenkivskyy and Kyivskyy districts. In particular, near the Children’s Railway, a popular place for children. An enterprise in Kyivskyy district also sustained damage.
  • In total, 21 people were injured in the attack, three were killed. On 8 June, the number of victims increased: railway worker Volodymyr Kovtun, who had been wounded in the shelling, died in hospital.
