On 19 September, Culture Night will take place across Ireland, featuring a variety of free cultural events. The Ukrainian community will also participate with the Healing Land project. Co-organiser Nataliya Krasnenkova announced this on her Facebook page.
During the meeting, participants will discuss the experience of healing and how nature and art can provide support for people who have lived through war and forced migration.
The project will include a multimedia work by photographer Olha Derevyanko, Healing Land, in which migrant women share their stories and experiences of overcoming uncertainty and searching for identity in new circumstances.
“For me, photography is not only the art of seeing the world, but also a way to heal, to find support, and to answer difficult questions in life. Nature has become my guide in this uncertain and difficult period. This path led me to create the ‘Healing Land’ project — stories of Ukrainian women who are finding themselves in new circumstances, overcoming the challenges of war and uncertainty. The project intertwines photography and stories that help us feel our strength and inner support,” said the photographer.
Psychologist Liliya Gudz will also take part in the discussion, offering advice on adaptation and on improving quality of life in the new reality.
The event will take place on 19 September at 3 p.m. at Kerry Library, Moyderwell, Cloon Beg, Tralee, V92 X092. Admission is open to all.
