From 18 to 21 September, Lviv will host the festival Czech Dreams – 2025: Week of Czech-Ukrainian PartnershipThe event continues the tradition of cultural dialogue between Ukraine and the Czech Republic, which began in 2024, and is part of the large-scale international programme Czech Dreams.

The programme includes concerts by Czech and Ukrainian musicians, contemporary art exhibitions, film screenings, and public discussions. In particular, visitors will be able to see works by artists Johana Merta (Despite All Possibilities) and Vendula Holanová, dedicated to the themes of freedom and the musical heritage of Leoš Janáček. Film clubs will show classic Czech films, including Jan Hřebejk’s Cosy Dens, Miloš Forman’s Black Peter, and Jiří Menzel’s Closely Watched Trains.

The festival will also serve as a platform for discussing cultural diplomacy, the partnership between Lviv and Brno, and the exchange of experiences in the field of art and social initiatives.

The event is organised by the Czech Centre in Kyiv, the Czech Ministry of Culture, Lviv City Council, and the city’s cultural institutions.

Czech Dreams – 2025 aims not only to present contemporary Czech culture in Lviv, but also to deepen mutual understanding and partnership between Ukrainians and Czechs during the war.
