On 7–9 October, Madrid will host the 43rd LIBER International Book Fair, the largest event dedicated to Spanish-language book publishing. The event will bring together over 350 participants from 63 countries and will serve as a platform for professional discussions on trends and challenges in the book industry. Ukraine will participate in the fair for the second time with a national stand 14С02, organised by the Ukrainian Book Institute in cooperation with the literary platform Frontera.
Twelve Ukrainian publishers will present their new releases, including Folio, Ranok-Creative, Ukraїner, Anetta Antonenko Publishing House, and others. Visitors will also be able to familiarise themselves with books by Ukrainian authors that have already been published in Spanish-speaking countries.
According to the Ukrainian Book Institute, there are currently 32 translations of Ukrainian publications into Spanish, three of which were produced as part of the Translate Ukraine programme.

“Our literature is still underrepresented in the Spanish-language market. Participation in LIBER will help build new partnerships and open up prospects for Ukrainian publishers,” said Oleksandra Koval, acting director of the Institute.
For the Frontera platform, participation in LIBER is a continuation of its strategy of cooperation with cultural institutions in the Romance-speaking world. “This is another step in the systematic development of our partnership with Spain. The fair allows us to deepen dialogue and make Ukrainian literature more visible in the world,” emphasised Ella Yatsuta, founder of Frontera.
As part of the fair programme, two special events will also take place on 8 October, organised by the Ukrainian Book Institute and Frontera: a discussion on the Ukrainian book market and an open lecture entitled When Poetry Becomes a Phenomenon.
