US Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg believes that Donald Trump has authorised long-range strikes on targets in Russian territory. He made this statement on Fox News.
Commenting on a recent post by the American president and analysing Vice President Jay D. Vance's comment on considering the possibility of transferring Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, Kellogg believes that there is no ban on such strikes for Ukraine.
‘Reading what he said and reading what Vice President Vance said, as well as Secretary of State Rubio, the answer is yes. There is no such ban,’ he said.
Kellogg added that, apparently, during his meeting with Donald Trump, the Ukrainian president asked for long-range Tomahawk missiles. The decision on whether to provide them will be made by Trump, his special representative said.
He also added that Trump had received intelligence reports that Russia would not win this war.
Trump's meeting with Zelenskyy in New York
Last Tuesday, the Ukrainian and American presidents held a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Afterwards, Trump posted that Ukraine, with Europe's support, would be able to regain all its territories – this contrasts with previous statements that it would have to make concessions for the sake of peace.
The American president also said that he had received information about the poor state of the Russian economy.
The Ukrainian president, for his part, said that Trump supported strikes on energy infrastructure and missile and drone production sites in Russia if it carried out similar strikes on Ukraine.
‘If they threaten a blackout, for example, in the Ukrainian capital, then the Kremlin should know that there will be a blackout in the Russian capital,’ he said.
Zelenskyy did not directly answer the question of whether Ukraine had requested long-range Tomahawk missiles. Currently, Ukrainians are carrying out long-range strikes using weapons of their own production.
