On 11 November, Lviv’s ZAG (Zenyk Art Gallery) will open the exhibition “KHERSON: NOT/stolen. Studies and Homages,” marking the third anniversary of Kherson’s liberation from Russian occupation, the gallery’s press service announced.

The exhibition brings together artists from across Ukraine, including Matviy Vaysberh (Kyiv), Oleksandr Zhyvotkov (Kyiv), Vladyslav Shereshevskyy (Kyiv), Polina Kuznetsova (Kharkiv–Kyiv), Ihor Bozhko (Odesa), Oleksa Mann (Kyiv–Uzhhorod), Denys Nedoluzhenko (Odesa–Zaporizhzhya), Volodymyr Semkiv (Lviv), and others.

The project is conceived as support for the Kherson Art Museum, which was looted by Russian occupiers: from 31 October to 4 November 2022, over 11,000 of its most valuable works were taken. The artists have created works dedicated to pieces stolen from the museum. For example, Oleksa Mann produced a homage to a painting by Davyd Burlyuk, while sculptor Volodymyr Semkiv paid tribute to a work by Mykhaylo Zhuk.

Mykhaylo Zhuk's painting “Fairy Tale. Dance of the Beetles”, was stolen by Russian forces.

The Territories of Culture project is produced in partnership with Persha Pryvatna Brovarnya and is dedicated to researching the history and transformation of Ukrainian cultural identity.
