Ukraine will take part for the first time in the Biennial of Contemporary Art in Guatemala with a project by artist Alevtina Kakhidze that tells the story of the Russian–Ukrainian war. The artist presents her project I’m Still Drawing This War, which includes drawings, diaries, and a 360° film documenting her personal experience of the war in Ukraine – beginning in 2014 (centred on her mother, who remained in Zhdanivka, Donetsk Region), continuing through the start of the full-scale invasion, the liberation of Kyiv Region, and up to 2025.
From 6 November 2025 to 15 February 2026, the 24th Bienal de Arte Paiz will take place in Guatemala City and Antigua. It is one of Latin America’s most significant art events, founded in 1978.
This year’s theme is The World Tree, featuring artists from Central America, the Caribbean, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Oceania. The edition includes 46 artists and collectives from all five continents, with exhibitions held across 11 creative venues.
Ukraine’s participation is organised with the support of the Ukrainian Institute.
