Ternopil attack leaves ten dead, over 30 wounded; chlorine levels surge beyond safety limits

The Russians targeted a residential building.

During a morning attack on 19 November, the Russian army damaged residential buildings in Ternopil. Other buildings were also damaged. According to preliminary operational data from the Regional Military Administration, the chlorine content in the air exceeded the norm by six times. People were urged to stay indoors if possible and close their windows.

Russians used both drones and missiles in the attack, according to the city’s mayor, Serhiy Nadal.

According to data from the Minister of Internal Affairs as of 10:21 a.m., the death toll has risen to 10, with 37 wounded, including 12 children.

“Rescuers continue to evacuate people from blocked apartments. There are people under the rubble. We are working as carefully as possible — every minute can mean a life saved,” Klymenko said.

Footage of the damage to the residential high-rise building is being shared on social media. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, two nine-storey buildings have suffered critical damage. In one, floors 3 to 9 have been destroyed.

The RMA reported that 10 shifts of power cuts will be implemented in the Region from 19 November until further notice.
