The meeting of the Servant of the People faction with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has concluded.
This was reported to LB by sources within Servant of the People.
“The meeting lasted roughly two hours. The head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, was also present and took part in the discussion. MPs had questions for him. But the president made it clear that, at least for now, there will be no resignation,” the source said.
At the same time, the interlocutor stressed that “this time there were a lot of people — close to 200 MPs. There were plenty of sharp questions. At least three or four about the recent corruption case, in various interpretations.”
MPs also said that the so-called ‘peace plan’, which had been passed to the president by the American partners, was discussed.
“They talked about the plan. It exists. It’s complicated. It doesn’t suit us. There will be many discussions before next Friday, including with Trump. European partners are fully on our side,” an MP said.
The source also noted that the issue of dismissing National Security and Defence Council Secretary Rustem Umerov was not raised. “Not a word about it. No questions regarding him.”
LB was also told that “there was only a general question about corruption in the defence sector. The president said that if someone is guilty, they must be held accountable. No names.”
Another item concerned internal faction matters — specifically, the possible decision by part of the MPs to leave the Servant of the People faction.
“Davyd (Arakhamiya) spoke about this, saying there is a risk that the mono-coalition could disappear. The president said it must be preserved and that everyone should make an effort to ensure this,” the source said.
MPs noted that the issue of faction leader Davyd Arakhamiya’s resignation — as announced by opposition MPs — was not discussed.
“No. He moderated the entire meeting from start to finish.”
One MP shared an interesting detail:
“There were far more tough questions than usual, but overall the atmosphere was ‘we’re one team’. Only Maryana Bezuhla kept shouting from her seat and running about the hall.” (Editor’s note: Maryana Bezuhla has been expelled from the faction.)
“She was there. And she was far too active,” another MP added.
Moreover, one of the influential members of Servant of the People told LB that following the meeting with the president, statements by some MPs about quitting the faction cannot be ruled out.
“I don’t see any resignations for now. As for leaving the faction — hard to say. Anything is possible.”
