A Ukrainian delegation from the NGO Docudays recently arrived in Santiago to present contemporary Ukrainian documentary filmmaking and highlight key wartime challenges at FIDOCS. The delegation includes Docudays UA Programme Director Yuliya Kovalenko, Programmer Olha Sydorushkina, and Fundraiser Anastasiya Humenyuk. Alongside film presentations, the delegates will join industry events, while Yuliya Kovalenko will serve on the jury of the national competition.

This year, FIDOCS dedicated one of its special programmes to contemporary Ukrainian cinema, created in partnership with the Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival. FIDOCS Programmer Danilo Petrovich Jorquera noted that the selection brings together films being shown in Chile for the first time — works that explore life in a country at war through archives, testimonies, and new ways of representing reality, in order to understand what remains of humanity under extreme conditions.

Audiences at FIDOCS will see three Ukrainian films recognised at this year’s Docudays UA:

2000 Meters to Andriivka by Mstyslav Chernov — winner of the DOCU/WORLD Grand Prix, the RIGHTS NOW! Grand Prix, and the Audience Award.

Militantropos by Yelyzaveta Smit, Alina Horlova and Semen Mozhovyy — awarded the Jury Prize of the Ukrainian Film Critics’ Union.

Fragments of Iceby Mariya Stoyanova — winner of the DOCU/UKRAINE Grand Prix, a Special Mention in DOCU/WORLD, the Student Jury Grand Prix, and the Prize of the Ukrainian Film Critics’ Union.
