- Slovakia supported Hungary on the issue of pressuring Ukraine to resume transit of Russian oil via the Druzhba pipeline. Fico expressed doubt that the pipeline had indeed been damaged by a Russian strike.
- The country also said it was ready to block the 20th package of sanctions against Russia until oil transit from Russia starts working again.
- The Slovak prime minister had planned to attend the May 9 parade in Moscow—despite the European community’s boycott of Russian events in connection with the war against Ukraine. In the end, he declined to take part in the parade, but did not abandon the idea of traveling to Russia.
