Ukraine’s State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience has issued an order to the Pochaiv Holy Dormition Lavra of the UOC to remedy violations of legislation in the area of freedom of conscience and the activities of religious organisations.

This was reported by the State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience.

The decision was made following a review into signs of Pochaiv Lavra’s affiliation with a foreign religious organisation whose activities are banned in Ukraine (the Russian Orthodox Church, ed.).

“Based on the results of the review into signs of affiliation between the Pochaiv Holy Dormition Lavra and a foreign religious organisation whose activities are banned in Ukraine, Ukraine’s State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience has issued an order to remedy violations of legislation on freedom of conscience and religious organisations,” the statement said.

Under current legislation, the religious organisation must remedy the identified violations within 30 days from the moment it receives the order.
