Today, 10 August, at 17:00 Kyiv time, an informal Arria-formula meeting will be held on Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilian detainees who are being illegally held by Russia.
This was reported by Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha.
"Today, 10 August, at 17:00 Kyiv time, the UN Security Council will hold an Arria-formula meeting on Ukrainian prisoners and civilian detainees held by Russia," the statement said.
The foreign minister stressed that first-hand testimony will shed light on the systematic torture and abuse Ukrainians face in Russian captivity, as well as the urgent need for international access, an end to cruel treatment, accountability, and the return of all those being illegally held.
- Earlier, during another prisoner-of-war exchange , the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, met with Russia’s new human rights commissioner, Yana Lantratova.
- The ombudsmen agreed to verify Ukrainian citizens who are being held in Russian captivity.
