Canada is preparing several packages of sanctions against Russia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this at a press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
According to Zelenskyy, this concerns anti-ballistic sanctions. They will affect everyone involved in Russia’s production of ballistic missiles. The President expressed hope that the package would be adopted quickly and could come into force as early as October.
Work is currently under way by Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and coordinators with other states in this direction.
There will also be new sanctions against individuals and companies involved in the abduction of Ukrainian children, Zelenskyy added.
- In May this year, Canada announced an expansion of sanctions against individuals and organisations involved in the abduction of Ukrainian children and their deportation to Russia.
- The country imposed sanctions on 23 individuals and five organisations involved in the illegal deportation, forced transfer, ideological indoctrination and militarisation of Ukrainian children in Russia and in the temporarily occupied territories of our country.
