Canadian defence company General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada and Ukrainian UAV manufacturer GreenTech Harvest have agreed on joint production of Ukrainian drones in Canada. This is stated in a General Dynamics press release.
The companies signed a memorandum of understanding setting out the framework for cooperation. GreenTech Harvest will provide UAV development and operational expertise gained during the full-scale war, while General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada will contribute its manufacturing and industrial capabilities.
The press release notes that production will be aimed at meeting Ukraine’s needs and strengthening the defence capabilities of both countries. According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, 30% of the drones produced under the agreement will be sent straight to the front. At the same time, the companies have not yet disclosed specific volumes, the production launch timeline, or the drone models involved.
The memorandum between General Dynamics Mission Systems Canada and GreenTech Harvest is part of a package that Mark Carney and Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on 10 September in Calgary. Canada has launched a national drone marketplace, DDIM, modelled on Ukraine’s Brave1 (around 400 qualified suppliers), and plans to award initial contracts worth up to C$50 million to six Canadian companies — Beonyx, AVSS, Volatus Aerospace, Twenty20 Insight, Draganfly and Objexis AI — for ISR drones and ground robotic systems for its own Armed Forces. According to Aerotime, this is expected to increase Canada’s drone fleet tenfold.
There are only two partnerships with Ukrainian manufacturers in the package: last year’s agreement between Sentinel Research and Development and Airlogix, and the current deal between GD Mission Systems Canada and GreenTech Harvest, which the official release explicitly presents as a continuation of the first.
GreenTech Harvest is a Ukrainian defence technology company that manufactures drones. In 2026, GreenTech Harvest became one of nine Ukrainian founding companies of the EU-Ukraine Drone Alliance, created to develop joint drone production and technologies between Ukraine and the EU.
The company has also signed an agreement with the Dutch VDL Group to produce Ukrainian drones in the Netherlands. Models named as part of the cooperation include the K4 Deepstrike strike drone and the Midstrike Plane Baton reconnaissance drone.
General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada is one of Canada’s largest defence organisations. The company manufactures defence electronics, including sonar systems, anti-submarine warfare equipment and UAVs.
In addition, Ukraine and Canada are preparing a major drone agreement. The sides have announced they will sign it at the end of September.
