Russian forces attacked a men’s monastery in the Kherson region with an FPV drone. As a result of the strike, one of the clergy was killed and four other people were injured.
Ukrainian President reported this, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“Every day and every night we defend ourselves against Russian strikes. Yesterday in the Kherson region, the Russians hit a men’s monastery with an FPV drone. Sadly, one member of the monastery’s clergy was killed and four others were injured,” Zelenskyy said.
The President expressed his condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
According to Zelenskyy, Russian troops also struck critical and civilian infrastructure in the Kharkiv, Sumy and Odesa regions. In the Dnipro region and Zaporizhzhia, hits on residential buildings were recorded.
The Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Zhytomyr and Cherkasy regions also came under Russian strikes from the evening onwards.
Zelenskyy noted that in this week alone, Russia used more than 2,000 attack drones, around 1,700 aerial bombs and 19 missiles of various types against Ukraine.
“Ukraine is constantly looking for and finding ways to defend itself and respond to these strikes against life. It is important that our partners also look for and find ways to make Russia feel its war,” the President stressed.
He also urged Ukraine’s partners to step up sanctions pressure on Russia.
“Right now is exactly the right moment to take new sanctions steps against the aggressor and press for peace through strength. The United States has the relevant capabilities, Europe has them, and all G7 countries have them. We are counting on new, strong steps,” Zelenskyy said.
