Fighters of the Third Army Corps, as part of Operation "Vivaldi", liberated the villages of Shandryholove and Derylove in the Donetsk region and also established full control over Drobyshcheve.
This was reported by the commander of the Third Army Corps, Brigadier General Andrii Biletskyi.
According to him, during the second phase of the offensive operation, Ukrainian troops brought a further 40 km² of territory back under control.
"As I promised, I am reporting good news. During the second phase of "Vivaldi", the Third Army Corps regained a further 40 km² of Ukrainian land. Shandryholove and Derylove have been liberated. Drobyshcheve is under full Ukrainian control. It is worth noting that Shandryholove is a critical point both for our troops and for the enemy," Andrii Biletskyi said.
The corps said that during the operation, assault groups enveloped Shandryholove and Derylove from north to south. The troops used ravines and gullies to advance unnoticed, which, according to the command’s plan, was intended to ensure an element of surprise.
The units operated in coordination: some troops assaulted defensive positions, while others covered the flanks and prevented Russian forces from mounting a counter-attack.
According to the "Triika", Ukrainian troops steadily overcame Russian defensive lines, destroyed strongpoints and consolidated on designated lines.
Overall, during the first and second phases of Operation "Vivaldi", the Third Army Corps brought 125 km² of territory back under control, of which 50 km² were liberated.
The corps also said that over the two phases of the operation, Russian forces lost about 3,000 servicemen.
At present, according to the Third Army Corps, during Operation "Vivaldi" Ukrainian troops have established full control over Novoselivka, Oleksandrivka, Yarova, the outskirts of Korovyi Yar and Drobyshcheve, and have also liberated Serednie, Shandryholove and Derylove.
