On 20 September, Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a conversation with his American counterpart, Donald Trump.
The Ukrainian president noted that the conversation was important and that they “managed to discuss many things”. The leaders agreed to meet in New York and, according to Zelenskyy, “this meeting could change a lot. There is diplomatic momentum.”
“I thanked him for the visit to Kyiv by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner: we went through the essential details thoroughly, and the guys saw the situation in Ukraine. The peace track is the number one priority. There are ideas for de-escalation steps and fundamental security issues — energy, food, and protecting people’s lives. We are working together with the American team and are ready to take truly serious steps,” the head of state said.
Zelenskyy also thanked Trump for signing Lindsey Graham’s bill.
