WIY Drones has unveiled the SPYS interceptor drone, designed to shoot down jet-powered Shahed drones. The company reported this on Facebook.
According to the manufacturer, the UAV carries a 300-gram warhead. The drone’s stated range is up to 30 km, with a flight time of 5 minutes.
WIY Drones says the SPYS drone can reach speeds of up to 500 km/h thanks to its in-house electronic components and specially developed Ukrainian motors from Motor-G. The system provides target acquisition and engagement of aerial targets, including jet-powered strike UAVs.
The interceptor is designed to be launched from the ground and from carrier platforms—helicopters, aircraft and UAVs. In parallel, the company is developing a handheld launch mechanism with a monitor for automatic target acquisition.
In a comment to the outlet Militarnyi, the manufacturer said the drone currently has three automatic control systems.
“These are automatic take-off, automatic flight to the target area and automatic terminal guidance. Accordingly, this drone will have all these systems. Automatic take-off, essentially, and automatic terminal guidance, which is already working now. We are combining all these technologies into one so that in the end we get something you need to aim at an object flying in the sky, press a button, and the drone automatically flies and strikes,” he said.
SPYS is currently undergoing its first combat trials with units of Ukraine’s Defence Forces. The manufacturer has already recorded the first cases of successful engagements against the enemy’s jet-powered strike UAVs. At the same time, the team continues to refine the product based on combat experience and recommendations from the military.

The WIY Drones team also conducted range trials of SPYS together with representatives of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence. The tests confirmed the product’s main tactical and technical characteristics and its ability to engage the enemy’s jet-powered strike UAVs. The next stage is codification of the product, which is planned for October 2026.
