Russia is currently showing no readiness to end its war against Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in an evening address.
"Putin is constantly finding some excuse not to meet, not to agree to a trilateral format, not to talk, not to end and stop these killings. For years it has been the same with him, and all our partners can feel it," the head of state said.
The President added that the United States assesses the situation in a similar way. According to him, Ukraine, together with the US, European countries, Canada, Japan and other partners, is working to ensure Russia has an interest in ending the war.
Zelenskyy also announced an intensification of diplomatic work in the coming days and in October. In addition to diplomatic efforts, he said, the mechanisms of pressure on Russia must be strengthened, including those provided for by Lindsey Graham’s legislation.
Russians Want to Leave Ukrainians Without Internet
The Ukrainian President noted that Russia is carrying out an operation involving strikes on Ukrainian data centres and communications infrastructure.
"Everyone can see this threat. The Russians’ goal is simple: to leave Ukrainians without internet, without communications, without the relevant digital services," Zelenskyy explained.
The President stressed that Ukraine is responding to this threat swiftly. According to him, the relevant decisions were taken at the Headquarters, and specific steps have been defined at every stage to protect the infrastructure.
Intelligence Has Information on Russian Weapons Production
The head of state also spoke about intelligence information regarding Russia’s weapons production.
Next year, the Russian Federation plans to spend $12bn on the production of jet-powered drones and loitering munitions alone.
"We know from Russia’s internal documents what they are preparing and exactly what for next year — what volumes and what funding. And on every point we are preparing countermeasures," Zelenskyy assured.
There are several effective prototypes of drone interceptors, and there are teams already using them, the President noted. Ukrainian interception of jet-powered Shaheds has now reached 55%. In September there were more than 2,700 of them; around 1,500 were shot down or suppressed.
Russians Want to Expand Their War
The head of state also said that many intelligence services have information that the Russians want to expand their war to other countries and possibly other regions.
"That is why we are talking with partners about sanctions and about creating a Drone Deal," Zelenskyy added.
There are already 11 Drone Deals signed. Ukraine is preparing a 12th agreement with a strong state, and it is due to be signed soon.
