As a result of a massive Russian attack on Ukraine, five people were killed, including a child, and another 14 were injured.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this on social media.
Russian forces used nearly 190 attack drones overnight and in the morning, as well as ballistic missiles. The main target of the attack was the energy infrastructure of Kyiv and Kyiv Region.
Residential buildings were damaged by the shelling. Emergency services and repair crews have been working since the night to deal with the aftermath of the strike and restore electricity and water supplies where they were disrupted.
- In the morning, a Russian drone hit a grocery supermarket in Ivankovychi. A fire broke out there, which rescuers are extinguishing.
- In Kyiv, a warehouse building was hit, killing one person.
- Russians also attacked critical infrastructure in Zhytomyr, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad and Rivne regions.
- Damage was also recorded in Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson and Cherkasy regions.
Zelenskyy noted that Ukrainian defenders were able to shoot down some of the ballistic missiles, but there were also hits.
"In recent days there have been new air defence support packages. Thank you to our partners for the missiles, and to everyone who is delivering on our agreements and strengthening the protection of the skies. This is exactly how we must continue to work. Every interceptor missile truly saves lives," the head of state stressed.
The President noted that everything must be done to ensure that Russia’s bet on ballistic and drone terror does not pay off.
