In September, personnel losses in the Russian army reached 46,230 troops. This is the highest monthly figure since the start of 2026.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this.

The number of Russian military losses increased for most of the year.

  • In January it stood at 31,710 people,
  • in February – 26,090,
  • in March – 31,960,
  • in April – 32,980,
  • in May – 33,760,
  • in June – 39,290,
  • in July – 42,860 people,
  • in August – 42,020.

The September figure of 46,230 losses exceeded January’s by 14,520 people.

According to the General Staff’s calculations, this corresponds to an increase of 45.8%.

The General Staff said the Defence Forces continue to inflict losses in manpower and equipment on Russian troops along the entire line of contact. The military also linked the rise in the figures to the effectiveness of Ukrainian units’ fire strikes.

  • Over the past day, the Russian army lost 1,900 soldiers, an armoured combat vehicle, 36 artillery systems, 3 multiple launch rocket systems, an air defence asset, 14 unmanned ground vehicles, 524 vehicles and fuel tankers, and 4 units of special equipment. Russian total combat losses from 24.02.22 to 01.10.26 amounted to about 1,535,870.
