Ukrainian deftech company Rise Technologies has developed the Hish analogue video transmitter, in which the operator can change the operating frequency and power directly during the drone’s flight. The company reported this to Defender Media.
According to the company, Hish operates in the 3.0 to 4.0 GHz band and supports more than 100 channels. The operator can create a custom frequency grid within this range and switch between channels if interference occurs on the current frequency.
Rise Technologies says the transmitter’s power can also be adjusted in software depending on the operating frequency and in-flight requirements. To do this, Hish interacts with the flight controller via the Tramp and TBS SmartAudio protocols. The developers explain that this approach makes it possible not to run continuously at maximum power. As long as the video signal remains stable, the operator can use a lower emission level. If the link deteriorates on a particular section of the route, the power can be increased via the flight controller and then reduced again after passing the problem area.
According to the developers, during one of the tests Hish, at 25 mW, provided video transmission at a distance of up to 10 km. In another test, the transmitter at maximum power transmitted video over 80 km when the drone was at an altitude of about 600 m.
Another way to adapt the video link is to change the operating frequency. The custom frequency grid allows the operator to select available channels in the 3.0–4.0 GHz band and switch to another if interference appears, the company notes.
Hish’s maximum output power is about 10 W and depends on the selected frequency. The transmitter weighs 68 g and measures 55×35×35 mm. According to the company, Hish was developed in Ukraine, and its design does not use Chinese components.
Rise Technologies is a Ukrainian defence-tech company founded in 2024. It develops and manufactures electronic systems for unmanned platforms, including communications equipment protected against electronic warfare, video transmitters, and UAV solutions. The company has its own R&D and production capabilities, and its products are tested and refined based on combat experience. Rise Technologies’ developments include the Nakande digital communications system and the Hish analogue video transmitter.
