On the night of 2 October, Russia launched more than 100 attack drones at Ukraine, almost half of them jet-powered. Ukrainian forces neutralised most of the drones, but impacts were recorded.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this on social media.
In Kyiv, Russian Shaheds hit the Pivdennyy Bridge several times. In the morning, a residential high-rise building was damaged as a result of the strike, and one person was killed. A further four people, according to information available at the time of the report, were injured in the overnight attack.
In Kherson, Russians attacked a kindergarten, in Kharkiv a grocery shop. An institute and a critical infrastructure facility were also damaged in Kharkiv.
Strikes on high-rise residential buildings were recorded in Kramatorsk and Sumy. In addition, Russian forces attacked Dnipropetrovsk Region, Odesa Region, Kharkiv Region, Kyiv Region, Poltava Region and Rivne Region. Relevant services are working at the sites.
Zelenskyy also said that Russian production of drones and missiles remains dependent on foreign components. According to him, supply chains run through Europe, the United States, China, Japan and other countries, and components from well-known manufacturers continue to reach Russia.
"Every Russian drone can in fact be stopped on the production line. What is needed is the political will of these countries. If the Kremlin has chosen more strikes, sanctions must work and be strengthened," the president stressed.
