In Kyiv, temporary traffic restrictions will be introduced on bridges across the Dnipro during air-raid alerts. Drivers are advised to take the changes into account when planning their routes.
This was reported by the Kyiv City Military Administration.
In particular, during an air-raid alert, traffic will be organised as follows:
- On the Southern Bridge, traffic will be completely closed from both banks;
- On the Darnytskyi Bridge, vehicles will travel in one lane from the right bank to the left bank;
- on the Metro Bridge, traffic will be closed from the left bank to the right bank;
- on the Podilsko-Voskresenskyi Bridge, traffic will be closed from the left bank to the right bank.
The Kyiv City Military Administration urged Kyiv residents and visitors to the capital to be understanding about the temporary changes to traffic arrangements and to factor them in when planning their journeys.
- Yesterday, the Russians for the first time carried out a targeted attack on the Northern Bridge, which connects Kyiv’s left and right banks.
- They initially targeted the supports, then the road surface. The bridge carries the “green” metro line, which was the only one operating during yellow alerts. As of the morning of 2 October, Kyiv partially restricted traffic on two bridges. The Southern Bridge was closed completely. Overnight, Russia attacked the Southern Bridge at least three times.
- Following a meeting of Kyiv’s Defence Council, Vitali Klitschko said the metro is ready to resume services over the Southern Bridge after a series of hostile attacks, but only after receiving an expert assessment of the structure’s condition from research institutes.
- As early as 2 October, the occupiers attacked the Southern Bridge again.
